Final thoughts

Great night tonight as we had our final 'get together'.  It was neat as everyone shared what they had learned.  "The difference between hunger and craving", "I was addicted to sugar and bread', "I don't need sodas", "I can lose weight", "I enjoy trying new dishes" and the list goes on. All in all, a very successful class!

We talked about transitioning to a Metabolically Efficient Diet.  If you want to know the details,

We also talked about how to apply these concepts to endurance training and were lucky to have Michelle Hurn, a certified dietician, go over the benefits of Generation UCan.  The differentiator is that it goes along with metabolic efficiency, eliminating the spike and resulting crash that comes from sugar products.  This allows the body to stay fat burning at higher intensities.

Enjoyed the journey, enjoyed the results.  Keep me posted with the successes you having as a result of the CFD.

Day 19

I am oot for the next two days so I thought I would shoot off the post.

Reminder, tomorrow night, 6pm at MMS for our next to last.  I look forward to hearing how everyone is doing.

I am pretty much in the routine.  Yesterday was my rest day which was nice.  I ate my regular breakfast, salad for lunch and delicious salmon patties (made with canned salmon, eggs, onion and Old Bay.  YUM.  Also had sweet potato, apple and onion hash.  Again, YUM.  And some veggies.  I have cut my snacking down and feel pretty lean.

This morning we had our hardest interval run.  Six one mile intervals.  Since I crashed on #4 when we did four, bailed on half a mile on the last mile when we did five, I was stubbornly optimistic to finish this workout.  And I did.  It didn't hurt to have beautiful weather but I got in all six with strong, even splits.  I felt good.  The negative was I couldn't push it, but my comfort pace was where it needed to be.

Positive trend.

See you tomorrow night.

Day 17

Yesterday and today consisted of some long runs, 15 miles each day.  I was happy to make it through on the CFD and even felt better today on the run yesterday.  It was good to see fellow CFDers Mark Kingry and Rusty Dean out on the road this morning.  My legs are still having a problem recovering from speed work and hills, normally my strong suit, take a lot out of me.  I hope to see that improve this week.

Diet yesterday and today consisted of a lot of eating out.  Yesterday was Cracker Barrel for breakfast (eggs and bacon), Asia Bistro for lunch (chicken, cashews and vegetables), and El Ray for dinner (grilled chicken salad and sweet potato wedges).  Today I had eggs at home along with a banana, then a pork chop and sweet potato for lunch and a grilled chicken salad at Chappy's for dinner.  All in all, a pretty healthy couple of days and looking forward to the weekend.

Day 15

Yesterday was a 4am wake up to a 10pm come home from work.  So sorry, no blog.  Normal day, ate healthy except dinner wasn't until 10pm due to too many meetings.  Oh well.

Today was a normal diet day.  Three eggs for breakfast, salad for lunch, and a delicious pork chop, some veggies and salad for dinner.

You are now officially halfway through the CFD.  I hope you are feeling good and it is getting easier.  My legs are still not recovering well from speed work, but I expect that to start getting better.  I have 15 miles tomorrow and Saturday so we will see how the fat burning goes.

Thanks for all the updates and success stories.  Keep it up.

Here is a requested recipe from Christi Boak.

Day 13

Great time tonight, thanks to those who made it.  We talked about sugar and processed food, how it carries similarities with addictive drugs.  Went into how to eat out and wrapped up with some success stories.  Next week will be more on weight loss and lowering your body fat.

I feel a little better every day.  Hit the gym today and continue to be able to increase my weights.  Happy about that.  Breakfast and lunch were normal and no time for snacks today.  Did a better job hydrating.  Melissa knocked it out of the park with dinner.  Zucchini spaghetti noodles with ground turkey spicy marinara.  It was awesome.

Keep up the consistency.  As you overcome your cravings, reduce your snacking, especially any that replaced cravings.

See you next week.

Day 12

Intervals are always tough on the CFD.  Today I had 5 x 1 mile.  The good news is I made it farther than last week.  The bad news is I still had to bail and only run 1/2 of the final interval.  Too dizzy.  But is was a good run.

Breakfast was three eggs, banana and coffee.  Salad for lunch.  Dinner was onion, mushroom, egg scramble, along with some bacon and frozen grapes.

I hope you are finding it easier and easier (or maybe just more normal) to eat this way.  If you are be creative with cooking, you should not be getting bored.  Make sure you keep hydrating and keep up the fiber!

Day 11

Can you believe that you are 1/3 the way done!  Congrats.

By now, I hope you have learned about your body.  Maybe some things about your eating habits, your cravings and your snacking.  I hope you have noticed a decrease in your weight, an increase in your tone and some additional energy.  Whether yes or no, stay consistent and stay strong!  In the next 10 days you should start feeling more 'normal' in your workouts.  It will take a few more weeks before you start noticing some of the incredible endurance increases that are in your future, but you should start feeling better.

Another great day today.  Three eggs, banana and coffee for breakfast; tuna salad, two boiled eggs and some leftover fish for lunch; roasted almonds for snack and leftovers for dinner.  All in all a good day.

Looking forward to Tuesday night.
